I neither know nor care where my other Legendia thread went, but it ships tomorrow... so...
TALES OF LEGENDIA
RELEASE: 2-7-06 FOR PS2
Edit: Fixed piture, bandwidth exceeded on Imageshack. 
The newest Tales game to escape Japan, Tales of Legendia is a return to
the 2d battlefields of Phantasia, Destiny and Eternia (The linear
motion battle system as it were). Think of it as the same as Symphonia,
only on a 2D plane. If you're new to the series, it's an RPG with a
battle system markedly similar to a 2D beat 'em up.
NOW CATERING YOUR FAVORITE FETISH
FISTING
Senel is the first (and only) Tales main character that isn't a
swordsman. Like Farah in Eternia, he's a martial artist. His unique
thing though, are throws, which can be done on downed enemies dependant
on their weight class and in some cases species. Throws also
potentially hurt other nearby enemies.
TRADITIONAL MISSIONARY SEX
You do get a swordsman (Chloe) relatively early on though, so if
playing a Tales game without holding your phallic sword gives you
hives, you can just control her. And she's hot, so double the fun.
GROUP SEX
Sorry, multiplayer was cut from Legendia. It was made by the Soul
Calibur team instead of the Tales team. Maybe this means we'll get a
little stronger story, but who knows.
BESTIALITY
It has anime cutscenes. I'm told there are more of them, I frankly
don't really care either way, but a lot of people griped about there
being only two in Symphonia, so whatever.
FURRIES
If you need to dress up to get your jollies, Legendia's bonus
costumes are the mascot uniforms (the ones shown above are for the
males) and formal dress.
TITIES
The Title system is back again (no surprise). The change though is that
unlike Symphonia where they changed stat growth or Rebirth where just
getting the title gave a permanent boost to your stat, Titles are like
another equippable. Need more TP? Equip Combo Master. Need more Attack?
Equip Berserker.

ORGIES
Dungeons also now have a Chaotic Zone areas, which are essentially a
clusterfuck breeding ground for strong monsters. Unfortunately, the
game returns to invisible random encounters, and in the Chaotic Zone
areas, the encounter rate is much much higher and the monsters you'll
find are much stronger. And of course, these usually guard treasure
chests. But they also make levelling up a bit quicker... in theory.
MONEY SHOTS
Also somewhat new is the Climax gauge. Essentially a replacement
for the Unison bar of Symphonia, it fills up as you do and recieve
damage, and then once full, hit a button to enter Climax mode where
time stops except for your characters and the gauge starts to rapidly
drain. Then if you have 4 characters, hit the button again at any point
while in Climax mode to do a Climax combo for big damage.
Unfortunately, there's only one Climax combo, which is fairly lame.

Unfortunately, there's not much to look at in terms of other people
playing Legendia so far. Gamerankings has 3 reviews of the import
version (6/10, 9/10, 4/5) and two reviews listed as being posted on
March 1st, 2006. Only one has a link to an actual article though, so...
whatever.

You should really watch the videos. The still shots don't look so hot, it looks quite a bit better in motion.
Speaking of the voice acting, from the little I've seen, it's not
cringeworthy. Certainly nobody as awful as Collette, but not
particularly great either. They made Moses a cajun though, which is
hilarious. He's kind of scruffy and has a harpoon though, so I guess it
might work. We shall see.
OTHER THINGS I CAN'T THINK OF A FETISH FOR
One of the big changes from the other Tales games is the new Duct
system. Essentially a series of interlinked teleporters all over the
world, they allow you to quickly transport from one place to another,
which should prevent backtracking and the like.
They're also in dungeons, so if you get stuck in a particularly
hard rom, or need to leave to go stock up on shit, that should prevent
meaningless backtracking for the most part.
There are also rooms in dungeons that have 'Puzzle Booths' which
are somewhat separate from the main dungeons. Essentially, you teleport
in (or just enter puzzle mode or the like), have a little maze or set
of puzzles to solve of the block pushing or sorcerer ring variety. The
catch... if you get sick of the puzzle, you can just have your party
solve it for you and you get the item. This does however, disqualify
you from getting certain Titles.
Cooking also works a bit differently from the past games. Mimmy the
Wonder Chef is hiding around the world disguised as various objects (as
normal), but if you miss finding her in the town, you miss the scene
with her. If you backtrack, you'll just find a letter from her with the
recipe.
Also, recipes are now bread, which you Yakitate fans should enjoy.
Bread is cooked at bakeries in town and then placed in the Bread Basket
where it then functions more or less as a normal item.
There is a New Game+ in the same style as Symponia. You earn Grade
during battles, and then redeem it at the Grade shop for various
bonuses, like 2x Experience, and also PERMANENTLY putting your
characters into the alternate costumes (Mascot costume or formal wear),
at least until the next New Game+.
Learning magic works slightly differently, as you need to level up,
and then use sculptures to learn a spell, but I don' fully understand
it, so that's all I'll say about that.
Oh yeah, and some monsters now have auras that will inflict status
ailments on your characters if they enter the aura, which means it's
more important to use the ranged characters (you get at least two mages
and one harpoon tosser at minimum) if there are lots of those guys
about.
That's all I can think of for now. If you preordered, you get an
artbook... supposedly. Who knows. It's Namco, anything's possible. They
might accidently give you a localized version of Rebirth and that
wouldn't surprise me.

I know it plays fundamentally the same, but
man, those screens looks so...limited in terms of movement. The 3D
battlefield of Symphonia was excellent, even though you could only move
in straight lines.
I'll still probably get it, though. |

| I suppose its more understandable if its the
same designer. Its like Dragon Quest 8. It seems Toriyama CANT draw
something that doesnt at least resemble Dragonball a little bit. Its
just a style that consistently underlies all their work. |
